Description of Site/Tour: The tour includes a
visit to Goodman Point Pueblo, a large, late A.D. 1200s canyon-head
village
built around a spring. This site has been the focus of Crow Canyon’s
field
research in recent years. We may also
visit other smaller pueblo habitations
and the Harlan Great Kiva—which are also within the Unit and are
currently
being
tested through excavation.
Meeting Place Location: Crow Canyon Archaeological Center.
Directions:
Take highway 491 north out of Cortez.
Turn left (west) on Road L.
Drive about one mile (watch for Crow Canyon sign).
Turn left at junction onto Road 23.
Road 23 turns into Road K, which in turn becomes Crow Canyon's driveway.
We’ll meet in the large parking area out in front.
Tour times/Length: Meet at 9 AM; tour will last 1.5-2 hours.
Other information: Parking is restricted so we will have to carpool from the Crow
Canyon
campus.
