TOUR # 2: BOON PUEBLO AND THE WANCURA-JOHNSON
ARCHAEOLOGICAL PRESERVES

Description of Site/Tour: Boon Pueblo and the Wancura-Johnson Archaeological Preserves are located north of Cortez.Both are Pueblo I and Pueblo II period pueblos occupied from about AD 750 to 980.Boon Pueblo includes a 60 to 70 room pueblo.  The Wancura-Johnson Site includes eight architectural units and a great kiva.  A bedrock/ berm reservoir is located nearby.

:  To be determined.  (A map will be provided.) 

Tour times/Length:  Meet at 9:00 AM; tour lasts 2 to 3 hours (includes travel time to and from Dove Creek). 

Other information:  Parking is limited and car pooling will be necessary.  Boon Pueblo and the Wancura-Johnson Archaeological
Preserves are owned and protected by The Archaeological Conservancy.
